About PDF Page Reordering
PDF page reordering allows you to rearrange, delete, duplicate, and reverse the pages in any PDF document. This is essential when working with scanned documents that are out of order, combining sections from different sources, or removing unnecessary pages before sharing.
This tool renders visual thumbnails of each page using Mozilla's pdf.js library, then uses pdf-lib to reconstruct the PDF in your desired order. Everything runs in your browser — your files never leave your device.
Features
Visual Thumbnails
Every page is rendered as a thumbnail preview so you can see exactly what each page contains. No guessing which page is which — simply look at the grid and reorganize.
Drag-and-Drop Reorder
Click and drag any page thumbnail to move it to a new position. The numbered badges update automatically to show the new page order. Intuitive and fast for any number of pages.
Delete Pages
Remove unwanted pages with a single click. Delete blank pages, cover pages, or any pages you do not want in the final document. The original file is never modified.
Duplicate Pages
Need a page to appear twice? Click the duplicate button to insert a copy right after the original. Useful for forms, templates, and worksheets that need repeated pages.
Reverse Order
Flip the entire document order with one click. Common use case: reversing a scanned document that was fed in backwards, or converting from last-to-first to first-to-last page order.
Reset to Original
Made a mistake? Reset everything back to the original page order instantly. Your source PDF is preserved throughout the editing process.
Common Use Cases
Fixing Scanned Documents
Scanners sometimes produce pages in the wrong order, especially with automatic document feeders. Use this tool to quickly fix the sequence without re-scanning.
Removing Blank or Unnecessary Pages
Delete cover pages, blank separator pages, or appendices you do not need. Clean up the document before sharing it with colleagues or clients.
Reorganizing Reports
Move the executive summary to the front, reorder chapters, or rearrange sections of a merged document. Get the perfect page order for your final output.
Preparing Print Orders
Arrange pages in the exact print order, duplicate pages that need multiple copies, and remove draft pages before sending to a print shop or binding service.
How It Works
Step 1: Upload your PDF file. The tool reads the document and renders a thumbnail preview of each page using Mozilla's pdf.js rendering engine.
Step 2: Rearrange pages by dragging thumbnails to new positions. Use the toolbar buttons to reverse order, or hover over individual pages to duplicate or delete them.
Step 3: Click "Download Reordered PDF". The tool uses pdf-lib to copy pages from the source document in your specified order and generates a new PDF file. All content, formatting, fonts, and images are preserved exactly.
Privacy & Security
100% Client-Side Processing: Your PDF is processed entirely in your browser using pdf-lib and pdf.js. No data is uploaded to any server, and no copies are stored.
Original File Preserved: The source PDF is never modified. A new PDF is generated from the rearranged pages, so you always have the original as a backup.
How to Use PDF Page Reorder
Upload PDF
Drag the PDF into the upload area or use the file picker. The tool renders thumbnail previews of every page so you can see exactly what's where before reordering anything.
Drag pages to reorder
The thumbnails are draggable. Pick up any page and drop it where you want it in the new sequence. The interface tracks the order live, so you can see the result building up as you go.
Optionally delete pages
Most reorder tools also support deletion in the same workflow. Drop unwanted pages onto a remove icon or check them off for deletion, and the tool handles the reorder and the trim in a single output pass.
Generate reordered PDF
The new PDF is generated and offered for download. Open it and check that every page is in the right place with no duplicates and nothing missing — two minutes of review beats a redo if something slipped.
When to Use PDF Page Reorder
Document organization
Documents arrive in whatever order the source happened to produce, which isn't always the order a reader needs. Moving the executive summary up front, grouping related sections together, or reversing pages that came back from a scanner upside-down are all everyday reasons to rearrange.
Combine and reorder
After merging several PDFs the result rarely flows correctly on the first try. A reorder step lets you interleave sections, push reference material to the back, and generally shape the merged document into the structure you actually want.
Educational materials
Students restructure scanned notes and lecture handouts to group topics by theme rather than by class date. Instructors do the inverse when assembling course packs, pulling pages from different readings into a single sequenced document for the syllabus.
Legal/business documents
Court filings and corporate reports often have strict structural requirements: cover page first, executive summary next, exhibits in a specified order, and signatures at the very end. Reordering lets you assemble the final document to match those rules without recreating it from scratch.
PDF Page Reorder Examples
Reverse pages
10-page PDFReversed: page 10 first, page 1 last.A one-click reverse fixes the very common problem of pages scanned in the wrong order, or a chronological document that came back from somewhere with the most recent entry on top instead of the bottom. It's a five-second operation that saves several minutes of manual reshuffling.
Custom order
Drag-drop to reorder pagesPages in custom sequence specified by user. The thumbnail drag-and-drop interface is the natural way to handle this. You see every page laid out as a small preview, drag any thumbnail to its new position, and the tool emits a fresh PDF with pages in your chosen order.
Move section
Move pages 5-7 to beginningReordered: pages 5,6,7 first, then 1,2,3,4,8,9,10.Pulling a specific range of pages to the front (or pushing them to the back) is one of the most useful patterns. The pages within the moved section keep their relative order, and the surrounding pages collapse around the gap to maintain continuity.
Tips & Best Practices for PDF Page Reorder
- 1.A thumbnail view is essentially required for sane reordering. Trying to do this by typing in page numbers feels archaic; dragging visible previews is faster and almost impossible to mess up.
- 2.Always verify the result. Open the reordered file and confirm every page is present, in the order you wanted, with no duplicates and nothing missing. Two minutes of review prevents an embarrassing redo.
- 3.Internal links are the silent casualty of reordering. A PDF that contains 'see page 5' references will still point at whatever's now on page five, which is probably not what was originally on page five. Verify any document that depends heavily on cross-references.
- 4.Visible page numbers don't reorder themselves. If page five is moved to position one, it still has '5' printed on it. Renumbering is a separate operation that some tools support and many don't, so plan for it.
- 5.For documents organized in clear sections, reorder at the section level rather than page-by-page. Moving a coherent block keeps the internal flow intact and is faster than dragging individual pages around.
- 6.Always keep the original file. Reordering produces a new PDF, but accidents happen, and having the source available means you can always retry without redoing prior work.
